Dan Hall, Executive Director, joined Hope and a Home as its second Executive Director. He is deeply committed to the District of Columbia and to helping to rebuild communities. Dan works closely with the Board of Directors to shape the strategic direction of the organization as well as is responsible for the day to day operations. He helps Hope and a Home parents, staff and volunteers identify their innate strengths that can help to advance the mission of this organization.
Grace Dickerson, Education Coordinator, works with parents and schools to ensure that the children receive the educational resources to which they are legally entitled. She helps children gain admission to private and charter schools and offers them incentives for academic achievement. She is a strong advocate with an ability to make education issues and student assessment results easy for parents to understand.
Rosa Mooten, Office Manager, manages Hope and a Home's office, greets visitors, responds to calls from families who are in need of affordable housing, assists with the selection of families for our Transitional Housing Program, handles correspondence and paying bills, and provides clerical support for other staff.
Tim Mooten, Sr., Maintenance Specialist, oversees the physical operations of Hope and Home properties. He is responsible for the general maintenance of our apartments, for preparing homes for occupancy by new families, and for responding to emergency maintenance calls.
Ann Procter, Development Director, works with Hope and A Home staff and board members to cultivate funders and donors, develop fundraising strategies, recruit volunteers, and spread the word about the work of Hope and a Home. She also manages our special events.
Jhonna Turner, Youth Education Specialist, assists our Education Coordinator in providing educational support to our children. She facilitates youth enrichment activities and oversees our Stay and Thrive after-school program in the 14th and R Street neighborhood.
Mary Jo Schumacher, Family Support Coordinator, provides guidance to our parents through weekly in-home visits, quarterly goal-setting meetings, and annual progress evaluations. She has years of experience connecting with families on a personal level while also holding them accountable for the goals they set for themselves.
Crystal Stewart, Community Organizer, works with residents in Section 8 apartments in our 14th and R Street neighborhood to help them shape the future of their housing and neighborhood. She oversees our Work and Thrive project which provides job training workshops for neighborhood teenagers and helps them find rewarding summer jobs with local businesses.
Batrina Wallace, Family Worker, conducts weekly visits, quarterly goal-settings meetings, and annual evaluations with our parents. She has a special gift for finding community resources that support our families.
Hope and a Home has 13 Board members who bring diverse experience and expertise to our Board of Directors. One seat on our Board is designated for a graduate of our Transitional Housing Program, and another graduate sits on our Board's Transitional Housing Committee. Our Board members are drawn from the nonprofit field, from DC government, and from the private sector. Five of our Board members live or work in the neighborhoods we serve.
